Bhuj Airport is served by direct flights from Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The Rann is also reachable by road from Ahmedabad in approximately 5–6 hours — making this an ideal long weekend or festival break for Gujarat-based families and NRI guests visiting the state.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival at Dhordo — Sunset at the White Rann

Depart from Ahmedabad to Bhuj by train or bus (approx. 5 hours). Transfer to Dhordo Tent City (approx. 1.5 hours from Bhuj). Check-in to your tent. Evening sunset walk on the White Rann — a truly magical experience. Cultural evening with Gujarati folk performances. Dinner at tent city.

Day 2

White Rann — Sunrise, Village Tour and Culture

Early morning sunrise walk on the White Rann. After breakfast, local village tour — visit Hodka and Ludia villages to see Kutch artisans at work (embroidery, mirror work, pottery). Afternoon at leisure. Evening full moon or sunset walk on the salt desert. Cultural show and dinner.

Day 3

Kutch Sightseeing and Festival Day

Full day at the Rann Utsav festival grounds. Visit Kutch Museum, Aina Mahal Palace and local handicraft stalls. Camel cart ride on the Rann. Evening bonfire with cultural music and dance. Overnight stay at tent city.

Day 4

Bhuj Sightseeing — Return Departure

After breakfast, check-out. Drive to Bhuj. Visit Prag Mahal, Aina Mahal and old Bhuj bazaar for Kutch handicrafts and bandhani fabric shopping. Transfer to Bhuj Railway Station or Bus Stand for return journey to Ahmedabad.

Rann Utsav is held from November to February each year, coinciding with the winter season when the white salt desert is at its most beautiful under moonlight.

The tent city at Dhordo offers both AC and non-AC Swiss cottage tents with attached bathrooms. The tents are well-furnished and comfortable. AC tents are priced slightly higher.

Yes, the festival is very family-friendly. The walking distances are manageable and there are camel cart rides available for those who prefer not to walk on the desert.
