A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the rhino capital of the world — Kaziranga's vast Brahmaputra-edge grasslands shelter 2,600+ one-horned rhinoceroses, the highest tiger density of any protected area on Earth, and herds of wild elephants. Four distinct zones, each with a different landscape and wildlife mix.

Important Information
Park CLOSED approximately May 29 to October 15 (Brahmaputra monsoon flooding — annual, without exception)
Best season: October to April; peak season December–January
Bagori (Western) zone is typically the first to reopen after monsoon — open from mid-October
Prices NOT applicable December 20–January 1 — higher peak holiday rates apply
Booking portal: kazirangasafari.in — book at least 3 days in advance for on-site; advance online booking available
Original government-issued ID mandatory — Aadhaar for Indians, Passport for foreigners
Eastern zone (Agaratoli): only ONE jeep safari permitted per visit
Burapahar zone is most expensive due to remoteness (₹3,200/jeep for Indians)
No getting off vehicle during safari — strictly enforced
Neutral clothing recommended — avoid bright colours
Combine with morning Elephant Safari (activity_017) for the complete Kaziranga experience

Safari Options
~2 hours
Main zone with diverse habitat — grassland, woodland, wetland. Classic Kaziranga experience with maximum wildlife variety. Most accessible from NH-37.
~2 hours
Considered the best zone for combined rhino + tiger sightings. Wildlife congregates at a central water body. Elephant safari also available here. First zone to reopen post-monsoon.
~2.5 hours
Less crowded, ideal for undisturbed wildlife photography. Good rhino sightings. Note: only ONE safari permitted per visit in this zone.

Remote hilly zone, completely different landscape from the grassland zones. Home to India's only ape — the Hoolock Gibbon. Also rhinos and elephants.

Park closes ~May 29 annually due to Brahmaputra flooding — this is not a risk but a certainty every year. December–January is peak season. March–April gives highest tiger probability. Bagori is first zone to reopen in mid-October.
