Kaziranga National Park – Elephant Safari

One of India's most extraordinary wildlife encounters — riding a trained elephant at dawn through 6-foot tall Kaziranga grasslands to find one-horned rhinoceroses at close range. At 9–10 feet height you see over the grass that jeeps cannot penetrate, accessing areas where rhinos graze undisturbed at first light. No other experience in India compares.

Elephant safari operates same season as the park (Oct 15 – May 29). The 5 AM slot in winter months (Dec–Feb) has magical misty conditions. March–April rhinos are most active near water sources.

What to See
The elephant's height lets you look over the tall grass and approach within metres of grazing rhinos — an intimacy no jeep can achieve.
Included in elephant safari
At 5 AM the park is silent, misty and untouched. The Brahmaputra fog rolls over the grasslands as the sun rises — unlike any wildlife experience in India.
Included
Your safari elephant may pass near wild elephant herds — the mahout navigates with decades of experience.
Incidental
Eastern swamp deer and wild water buffalo are commonly encountered in the open grassland during the elephant safari route.
