Important Information
Dhikala zone: Canter-only for day visitors; Jeep safari only with overnight FRH stay permit
Jhirna and Dhela zones are open ALL YEAR including monsoon — good option June–November
Bijrani, Durgadevi, Dhikala: Closed June 15 to November 15
Dhikala overnight FRH rooms sell out within hours of the 45-day booking window opening
Children under 12 do not require a separate permit (max 2 children per jeep with adults)
Original government-issued ID mandatory — same ID used at time of booking
No private vehicles allowed — only registered forest department vehicles
No smoking, no alcohol, no getting off the vehicle during safari
Clothing: neutral colours only — brown, green, beige

Safari Options
3–3.5 hours
Best zone for jeep tiger sightings — dense Sal forests, wide grasslands, elephant herds. Recommended for first-time visitors.
3–3.5 hours
Consistent tiger sightings, good wildlife variety, best birdwatching alongside mammals. Only year-round open zone unaffected by seasonal closures.

Corbett's finest birdwatching zone — 580+ species including Himalayan riverine birds found nowhere else in India. Tigers and elephants also present.

The only way to access Dhikala's vast grasslands without an overnight stay. Shared open canter from Ramnagar/Dhangarhi. Two daily departures: 6:00 AM and ~12:00 PM.

The ultimate Corbett experience — stay in a Dhikala Forest Rest House, wake up in India's most celebrated wildlife zone, and take exclusive morning jeep safaris before day visitors arrive. Books out within hours of the 45-day window opening.

  • Children under 12: No permit required (maximum 2 children per jeep with adults)
  • Children 12–18 (students): Reduced canter fare (₹1,125 reduction on base rate)
  • No formal minimum age restriction for jeep safari
  • Elephant safari: Minimum age 5 years

Vast open grasslands on the Ramganga river floodplain — elephant herds graze here at dawn, tigers hunt at dusk. The defining Corbett landscape.
Overnight FRH stay or Canter safari
Critically endangered Gharial and Mugger crocodile in their natural habitat. Golden Mahseer fish in the shallows.
On safari route
Himalayan species including Long-tailed Broadbill, Ibisbill, Slaty-blue Flycatcher, Grey-headed Fishing Eagle — species not found in any other Indian park.
Included in safari permit
No core area permit needed. Rich birdlife, forest temples, elephants and deer — a budget-friendly and spiritually interesting addition.
Separate (lower) entry fee
Open meadows with the highest tiger sighting frequency in Corbett's jeep zones. Large elephant herds also use this area.
